Conclusion):

✕ Also, a lot of the findings are a little unreliable.
◯ Moreover, many of the findings are somewhat unreliable.
also→moreover、a lot of→manyのように、同じ意味でもフォーマルな語を選ぶのがポイントです。
✕ People have been interested in this thing for a long time.
◯ Researchers have been interested in this phenomenon for at least 10 years.

✕ In my opinion…
✕ I think that…
✕ I like/dislike…
◯ I conducted interviews with…
◯ I argue that…
◯ I hope to achieve…
✕ Interest in this phenomenon carried on in the year 2018.
◯ Interest in this phenomenon continued in 2018.
✕ This horrible tragedy was obviously one of the worst catastrophes in construction history.
◯ The injury and mortality rates of this accident were among the highest in construction history.

What does it mean to be courageous? Many people imagine firefighters running into burning buildings, or soldiers fighting on a battlefield. However, courage is not limited to such dramatic, life-or-death situations. This essay argues that courage is the willingness to act according to one's values in spite of fear, and that it is a quality we can practice in everyday life.
First, courage requires fear. If a person feels no fear at all, their action cannot really be called courageous. For example, a naturally confident student may find it easy to speak in public. In contrast, a shy student who raises their hand despite their anxiety shows true courage, because they choose to act while feeling afraid.
Second, courage is guided by values. Acting recklessly is not the same as acting bravely. A courageous person takes a risk because something important is at stake, such as honesty, fairness, or the safety of others. Telling a close friend an uncomfortable truth, for instance, is difficult precisely because it may damage the friendship, yet it protects something more important than temporary comfort.
Third, courage grows through practice. Every time we face a small fear, such as asking a question in class, admitting a mistake, or trying something new, acting bravely becomes a little easier. In this sense, courage is less like a fixed personality trait and more like a muscle that becomes stronger with regular use.
In conclusion, courage is not the absence of fear but the decision to act in spite of it. It is guided by our values and strengthened through daily practice. Understood in this way, courage is not a special quality reserved for heroes. It is a skill that anyone can build, one small brave choice at a time.
In conclusion
Responsibility is one of the qualities most frequently mentioned in education and in the workplace, yet it is often misunderstood. Some people see it simply as a burden: a list of duties imposed on them by parents, teachers, or employers. This essay takes a different view. Responsibility is best understood as the ability to respond, which means recognizing what a situation requires and acting without waiting for instructions. Developing this ability benefits not only the people around us but also ourselves, because it builds trust, supports personal growth, and gives our choices meaning.
First, responsibility is the foundation of trust. When people keep their promises and complete their tasks, others learn that they can be depended on. Consider a group project at school or at work. If one member submits their part late without warning, the whole team suffers, and future cooperation becomes difficult. On the other hand, a person who consistently meets deadlines is gradually given more important roles, because trust, once established, opens doors. The same pattern appears in friendships and families, where small kept promises slowly build a sense of safety. In this way, taking responsibility for small tasks is an investment in future relationships and opportunities.
Second, responsibility supports personal growth. When we accept responsibility for a result, we also accept the possibility of failure, and failure is one of the most effective teachers we have. A student who blames a low score entirely on an unfair test loses the chance to prepare differently next time. A student who asks what they could have done better turns the same result into useful information. Over time, this habit of honest reflection separates people who keep improving from people who stay where they are. Accepting responsibility does not mean blaming ourselves for everything that goes wrong. It means focusing on the part of the outcome that we can actually control and improve.
Third, responsibility gives our choices meaning. Freedom and responsibility are two sides of the same coin. If our actions had no consequences, our decisions would not matter, and neither would the freedom to make them. Precisely because our choices affect our own lives and the lives of others, those choices carry real weight. This is also why taking responsibility can feel uncomfortable: it reminds us that we could have chosen differently. Taking responsibility, then, is not the opposite of freedom but the proof of it. A responsible person does not simply follow rules. They choose their actions for their own reasons and are prepared to stand behind the results.
In conclusion, responsibility should not be seen merely as a burden imposed from outside. It is the ability to respond to what each situation requires, and it rewards us in at least three ways: it builds the trust on which relationships depend, it turns failure into a source of growth, and it gives meaning to our freedom. Learning to take responsibility, first for small tasks and then for larger ones, is therefore one of the most practical investments we can make in our own future.
